Endodontic treatment, also known as root canal treatment, involves removing the dental pulp (nerve), disinfecting and filling the root canals. This is a painless treatment performed under local anaesthesia, after which the tooth must be restored. At Spot Clinic, endodontic (root canal) treatments are performed using a microscope, which enables better visualisation of the inside of the tooth, optimising the final prognosis of the treatment.

When should it be performed?

  • When there is an extensive fracture of a tooth
  • After severe trauma
  • As a result of a deep cavity

How many appointments are necessary?

Usually only one appointment. However, depending on several factors, additional appointments may be necessary to complete the treatment.

Can a devitalized tooth cause pain?

Yes. If the infection returns, the tooth may need to be removed in order to eliminate reinfection. A devitalized tooth that is fractured may also cause pain.

Does a devitalized tooth become darker?

If the treatment is carried out correctly, there is usually no change in colour. However, if the tissue is not removed correctly, or in cases of trauma, the tooth may darken.
