The third molars, known as wisdom teeth, are the last teeth to erupt (emerge) in the oral cavity, located behind the last molars.
As they are the last teeth to erupt, they can cause a series of problems if there is not enough space in the dental arch.

What kind of problems can we have?

  • The development of infections or cysts
  • The destruction or appearance of tooth decay lesions in adjacent teeth
  • Premature (excessive) contact with opposing teeth

Should wisdom teeth always be extracted?

In the vast majority of cases, yes, however, a clinical and radiographic diagnosis should always be carried out by the dentist to confirm the situation

When do wisdom teeth erupt (emerge)?

Wisdom teeth are fully formed between the ages of 15 and 25
However, not all wisdom teeth erupt, due to lack of space
There are people who are born without wisdom teeth (they do not form)
